As you can see from the current Jordan documentary "The Last Dance", Michael Jordan's worldwide fame grew beyond comparison after various scoring and slam dunk titles, as well as MVP awards at the end of the 1980s. As a result, the desire for MJ's shoes and clothes grew and Nike prepared to satisfy them at the beginning of the 90s. It's fair to say that the Air Jordan V was the most coveted shoe among basketball players at the time, but non-basketball players were still obsessing over this item. The color combination of white leather upper, black midsole, red lining and a tongue made of reflective 3M, which is why this colourway is also called "Metallic Fire Red", was incredibly popular back then. The Nike Air branding was emblazoned on the heel, the tongue was decorated with the Jumpman and on the side panel was the net-like grid that long-established Jordan fans already knew from the IVer (4er) Jordan. An interesting detail back then was the small, reversed "AIR JORDAN" patch on the inside of the tongue.
