The central problem, Jones believes, was the turmoil at Legendary Pictures, which was the studio behind WoTLK Classic Gold. "It was mostly studio politics. It's true, Legendary had an incredibly turbulent time when we were developing World of Warcraft," the director declares. "They were part of Warner Bros. They quit Warner Bros. and joined Universal. They were bought by Wanda the Chinese conglomerate. They had to replace or lose several of their production staff midway through the film."
Jones is also adamant about his appreciation for the significance of Jones also explains the importance of World of Warcraft brand to Blizzard the company that developed the game. "We worked with Blizzard which was extremely cautious about what transpired in the film since their main source of income was their video game World of Warcraft, which generated a billion dollars per year for Blizzard," he explains. Although he acknowledges that the profits from the film will likely to appear to be "small potatoes" in comparison to the amount Blizzard earns through subscriptions to the game, the company was extremely protective of its brand. "It was actually an extremely active political scene," he says.
However, the experience of creating World of Warcraft hasn't necessarily been a factor in turning Jones off from working on another major-budget project. But, he'd definitely take the project in a different manner. "I'm much more educated today," he says.
