To combat bots and reduce spam, Elon Musk-owned microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) is reportedly testing a new feature designed to block links in replies. This move aims to curb the influx of spam links that often redirect to adult sites and scams.
Independent app researcher Nima Owji recently shared a screenshot of this upcoming feature on X. The functionality is straightforward: users will need to check a box to disable links in their replies. This should help in mitigating the issues caused by unwanted link-sharing.

Christopher Stanley, Senior Director for Security Engineering at X, has confirmed the development of this feature. However, it's still unclear whether the ability to block links will be available to all users or limited to Premium subscribers.

Apart from bots, the feature can also come in handy to stop users who often share questionable content on the platform. it might also prevent users who want to quote legitimate sources to debunk misinformation and prevent fake news.
